I popped over to Richard Murden Reserve in Haberfield yesterday to see how the Council was going with repairing this damaged seat.
I didn't expect them to have it fixed by now - I just wanted to take a closer look at the damage. The broken seat has been taken away (or the vandals have come back and tossed it into the canal). At least it is no longer a danger to the kids that use this park.
That broken spar doesn't look like natural wear and tear to me. I'd say someone was jumping up and down on the seat, causing it to snap.
And you wonder where your rates go.
